Theres a large o-ring on the top of elbow to the carb that the air filter or top plastic piece fits on with the air cleaner. Where can find a replacement part for murray 425001x8 mower?

Its probably this one, but check your engine model to be certain.

Briggs and Stratton 270344S O-Ring Seal - Jacks Small Engines

its maybe 1.5" on the black 90 degree elbow that goes from the carb to the top plastic engine housing with air filter. It seals keeping dirt debris from entering the intake tract.

Thats the 40" its the 425001x8 42" 17.5hp engine.

Its just like this except a red engine cover with a side brick size flip clipped rectangle filter.

425001x8 is the model number of the mower,. And had no reference to what the model number of the engine is. We need the model number from the engine itself to look up parts for the engine. Murray didn't make the engine and the mower parts diagram doesn't show parts for the engine.

Looks like the Briggs single cylinder Intek style engine so the numbers should be on the valve cover that says OHV.

And that rocker [valve] cover maybe flipped upside down.

But it appears to a 31 series engine based on the HP. They used both a round o-ring and a square cut depending when they were made.

Most likely it is the round o-ring is PN 697123 based on the age of the mower for the air cleaner intake elbow to engine shroud. That o-ring is 39mm (1.535") ID x 44mm (1.732") OD x 2.5mm.

And the date code on that rocker cover will give us the age of the engine.

This is the engine model.

If you have them out go to a plumbers supply company , you will most probably get the same thing for a greatly reduced price

My lord how hard headed are you? Looks like I wasted my time posting what the PN and size are.

First that red thingy [circled] is call a shroud. The other red thingy is a nearly worthless fuel filter.

The damn o-ring is PN 697123.

As for the idle mixture screw [arrow pointing to it] on that Nikki carburetor it is there just for looks at times as they put in a restricter jet that prevents most from going too rich. Although at times you need to go slightly richer to stop lean burn surging. Just got to know where it is and how much to resize it to. You can easily enlarge too much.

Here is an example the retail prices depending your source for the same exact o-ring.

If I was greedy I buy at the lowest price and sell at Briggs price.
