Business cards are now different thicknesses. I just measured one at 0.030" and is what I use.

Regardless of how thick your business card is, the .010” air gap still is correct for ignition coil to flywheel.

I have used .030 for decades. It works for me. I will try a Feeler Gauge o.o1o next time.

I was using a business cards which was easier than using my brass .010 feeler gauge, finally mic'ed the business cards I had been using and most was .030 plus, out of specs.
electric start eq still operated ok at .030, but seemed manually crank eq such as chainsaws did not start as easy

After setting the air gap at .008-.010 I manually slowly rotate the flywheel with the gauge still installed to check for any tight spots. Sometimes I go to .012 just to be safe that the magneto core does not get scrubbed if the .010 feeler gets snug.

I still go by the B&S standard from the 70's: .010 coil air gap, .020 points gap and .030 spark plug gap. Most people are confused when they get a machine with points these days. I will upgrade the coil if the customer chooses.

Remember saws have a small coil to fit under the covering. These are more critical for proper air gap.

Find a piece of junk mail. Should be easy to score something in the 0.010" range.
