Check out this guy. When I saw him I thought I'd found the missing link. I had never seen anything like this before and I've been looking around for over 47 years. I have never seen one again and this was taken on my property. This is one huge caterpillar. I would not touch it as I've been debilitated by caterpillars before, nothing to mess with. This one looks pretty fierce to me.

see below next to a penny for some scale.

Turns out it's not an uncommon moth. It's called a "Hickory horned devil". It's actually the larvae for a "Regal Moth" or the "Royal Walnut Moth". I found it in a wax myrtle a couple of years ago. It's completely harmless.

Close! We have leaf hoppers here but they are smaller, much smaller.
We call these Katydids here. Or you could call it "Amblycorypha floridana" if you wanted to. Don't ask me how to pronounce that.
I guess you and I are the only ones to take pictures of things other than lawnmowers.....other than Parkmower, he has posted a few.
I'll bet my mower is uglier than yours
Well, there is a critter pic tread on TBN as well, mebby that's why.

Dunno,lets compare.

Oh come on now I've seen your picture ......besides, I shaved, cut my hair, and put on my Sunday shirt before mama took that picture.
My girlfriend says I look very rugged and handsome

I'd like to call your attention to the "custom" grass chute and muffler mount
MTD-UG2.jpg

and yes, it still runs like a dear....er a sewing machine.
Sounds like a regular new mower...... dragging a bag of steal can across the lawn

Let the judging begin

OK....well I guess no one wants to judge or no ones paying attention, doesn't much matter either way.
They are both ugly but your is bigger so there's room for more ugliness:laughing:
Everybody should have 2 trucks, ones pretty and ones ugly.....
I'll bet my ugly truck is uglier than you ugly truck! I went to the woods this weekend and dug my ugly truck out from under the leaves and debris. It has been sitting there for 9 months waiting for hunting season. Well hunting season is almost over and it's a little disappointed but once again it complied. Took a few minutes but it started right up. This is the beginning of a cycle that has been going on for 16 years. Yea this truck has been in the woods for 16 years and never failed to start when I needed it too.

Where do you park that truck.....at the bottom of the ocean?
I'm going to concede the ugly tractor award, mines too pretty, got a few scratches, a few dents, but not even close. Whats the cab for, those hot summer days? I heard it doesn't get that cold in Alberta.
