You bring up a very interesting point...
Post count...This is one "feature" I wish did NOT exist...It is Not a good incentive for 'contributing' to any forum...
The only thing it does that I have seen, is bring out the lowest "bully" mentality in those folks so shallow they think it is a status symbol AND some indicator of Their importance....
It would serve everyone better if it were TURNED OFF ...
Then the only merit given for ANY particular post would be that post's content... With No additional implication perceived by the "post count group"...

In a perfect forum the post count would be coupled to a random number generator and It would assign any number from 1 to 10,000... it would to me be Just as important and meaning full as the system that keeps track of the Number of times anyone enters any Public place...
For those that live for their 'post count' ... eventually they could get a high score ... and that might make them feel better about themselves ... for a few seconds. :smile:KennyV

It is a very interesting point. Post count shouldn't be used as an incentive for contributing to a forum. A post should be judged on its content as the poster should be.
I personally like the Reputation System, using it a post and poster either earns positive points or negative points for a posting and its content. The points are judged and given by the forum membership that way you can tell if someone is truly contributing to the forum subject matter or is posting total trash just to pad there post count.

Post count doesn't really mean anything, it's the subject matter of the post or message that counts. I really don't understand why the number of or count matters.

Maybe if the only posts that was counted was the one that gave advice or helped fix something Like can anyone tell me why my 22 hp Briggs will only start if I take one plug out and ground it then I put plug back in and it won't run.

Yea that might be nice, but who's to say what is good advice. I think a person can tell what a good post is over something that's been posted to pad ones post count.

No a high post count doesn't mean anything. If an individual has twenty or Two thousand doesn't matter, your post are as valuable as anyone else's and your knowledge is just as good.
