Z930R Starter problem

Kawasaki FX801V-AS11

This problem was introduced by the customer. Starter failed, customer replaces the starter solenoid. Unit arrives at my shop constantly cranking as soon as the battery cables are connected. Note the solenoid electrical was properly connected.

I felt like an idiot for not thinking of what the customer did to cause the problem but it is fix and already back to mowing.

If the starter was the only electrical component manipulated my first thought would be jammed wishbone allowing the solenoid contacts to remain energized.

Bingo...He had installed the solenoid without it in hooked into the shift linkage. A first for me never done it myself until I tried it intentionally here. I reckon I just always did it right.
