Z335E Starting Problems

Figured I'd engage the galaxy of minds here to see if there are some suggestions as to what to look at next. My Z335E seems to start, but then dies a few seconds later and won't restart. It feels like it's being starved of fuel for some reason. I've done the following:

1. Charged the battery
2. Torn down and cleaned out the carb.
3. Replaced the fuel filter
4. Replaced the air filter
5. Filled with new gas (non-ethanol).
6. Loosened the fuel cap

The fuel pump seems to be squirting fuel fine, but I don't know exactly what sort of flow I should expect to see. Hoses seem to be fine, but I haven't done a thorough inspection. This thing ran fine 3 weeks ago and now has issues.

Thoughts?
 
Sorry @StarTech , that should have read fuel shut off solenoid.

If it has one, check it's working by removing it and applying power to it.
You should see the little plunger retract if it is working correctly.
 
OK.. finally got back to fixing the mower today (it's been hell on Earth here in Texas this week) and it seems as though cleaning out the fuel tank and pick up line did the trick for the most part. What I'm seeing now is a surging of the engine when it's running. Any ideas what might be the culprit?

Some of that trash you cleaned out of the tank is now inside the carb.

Inline fuel shutoff valve is a good item to have on any and all mowers.

Where's the spark plug change out dang it...... LOL I just knew it would be number 1 on your list of tricks.
