Yard machines muffler guard - reinstall

My friend accidentally took my muffler guard and spark arrester off my lawnmower and now we can't figure out how to get it back on. There's a metal choke/primer that is part of this, and we don't want to keep bending it into position (which may be the wrong place) because it will cold work the part and fatigue it. Does anyone know how this part fits back on the lawnmower?
