Need help, I have a 17.5 yard machine. It has ran fine until last weekend. I got off to get a drink and left it running, before I could get back it just died like it ran out of fuel. I rebuilt the carb, added new fuel lines and filter, and air filter. I could get it started but it would die within seconds. I soaked the carb, cleaned it with a compressor and can keep it running by going from full choke to fast but I have to keep doing that to keep it running and never gets to full idle speed. This morning I bought a brand new carb, installed it and still the same thing??????? Please help!!!

Did you replace the carb gasket with a new one?

Are you getting a good flow of gas to the carb?

Has anyone heard of a coil getting hot and making the engine die? I can't seem to make sense of it in my case but a friend mentioned this as a possible problem.

Happens all the time.

Check for spark as soon as it dies

Would that prevent the engine getting to full throttle?

I got it running by doing nothing??? However it will not get up full idle, I have messed with the carb adjustments and that did not change anything? Any suggestions?

Double check the linkage.

Can you move the governor by hand and make sure it is moving the flap on the carb

In another post I just mentioned this. A season of issues with my LawnBoy bogging down under load when hot and finally realized the Governor Vane pivot point was filled with crud (external of the carb) and was not allowing the governor Vane to pivot freely. Carb Cleaner and Liquid Wrench sprayed into the pivot point while hand operating the governor vane cured the problem nicely.

May not be your specific problem, but it is sure worth a look-see.

Good luck.
