Wide mower with multiple blades not cutting properly

I recommend you study what tensions the deck belt. Does the whole deck shift back and forth to tension the belt? I'm not familiar with any that do that, but engineers can be creative.
if i remember correctly, it moves backwards into tension when when the deck lowers,

by the screetching sound i recon the blade brake is insufficiently disengaging. But i dont see any way to adjust it. I could remove it but…
Is there supposed to be another spring attached to it in the opposite direction?

i disengaged the blade brake permanently and now the smell of burning belt is far less. However the problem with the blades not spinning properly remains. Upon examining I realise that the rear of the deck moves forward and up when i clamp both sides of the belt with my hand (engine off). The front of the deck remains in place. However this means the belt becomes easily untensioned. Does anyone know if there should be springs from the rear of the deck to the frame to prevent this?
