Why don't the guests join LMF and contribute?

I just signed in five minutes ago, made two posts and then saw LMF had 149 guests viewing the forums and only 7 members signed in...Guests....exactly what is the purpose of lurking around on the outskirts of the site when you could be contributing instead? Fricking ridiculous, IMO.

I find it somewhat interesting that the ratio of guests to members is so great. It makes me wonder how accurate the guest number is. When you consider that those guests may be anywhere in the world and my not even be at the page at any given moment or may not even speak the language. Or it may be that those guest are actually other computers searching the web, not what you consider guests at all.
But what really interests me is why you find it so annoying.
There are things in life we need to worry about, that is not one of them.
Don't worry about it JD:wink:. Not every post is a good post. Consider the fact that some of those guest may post something that we wish that they would not have. They may be some kind of spam/hacker types that we would rather avoid.
Just trying to save you some stress my friend:cool:. Be thankful we have this site rather than stressing about guests that you don't even know exist:smile:

It isn't annoying, but I just wish SOMEBODY else would create a new thread once in a while...find it hard to understand just how so many lurkers can exist and NOT have something to contribute here. LMF is interesting (most days) thought provoking (usually) and best of all, FREE. Why people are not burning up the Internet to get here and join up is something I will never understand....:confused2:

Well, they might be searching for an answer to a question in the archives of the forum, or watching the banter between the members like an audience member. Maybe they are waiting for someone else to ask their question for them. Maybe they're shy and don't think they have anything to contribute.

My question is, why doesn't LMF have a forum that DOESN"T require a mambership to ask something? I've seen a lot of 'members' that post a thread, get whatever feedback we give, then never post again. Seems they just wanted to ask a question.

I don't think I'd get too down on someone for just checking us out....:frown:

Kinda like saying "why are all these people here just wandering around the store, instead of buying stuff?".

.

I think the reason may be that an email address gives the member some accountability, discouraging someone from breaking the forum rules. An example would be if someone posted a very negative or insulting obscene post and never came back. The act of registering discourages that.
I think it's also a way of bringing value to the site for advertisers. The number of registered users makes the site more desirable and therefore valuable. That may be one way Muhamad makes his money.
That may be why the number of guests is so high. A potential advertiser may see that as a value added feature, so a guest is anyone who clicks on a link to this site from any search engine. That is pure speculation on my part I really have no idea.

How the BLEEP can anyone be shy ONLINE??? In real life I am one of the most shy, reserved people you will probably ever meet but get me behind a keyboard and I will be the exact opposite, a true heck on wheels (get the joke) who doesn't know when to siddown and shuttup. Truth is, Iin person I am a complete wallflower and terrible at conversation and despise social chat chat but let me log into a site like TBN or LMF and I magically become terribly rude, nasty, disrespectful, mouthy, outspoken, and opinionated--and those are just my good points.:laughing:

Because my policy says: "Don't handle the merchandise unless you intend to buy..."
