Why does LMF has all these brand-specific forums that are rarely used?

Allis-Chalmers...4 threads

Dixie Chopper....9 threads

Jacobsen....6 threads

Walker...12 threads

Etc.

I say combine all the low-participation forums into one "Other Brands" section.

I disagree. Mainly cause I use two Jacobsens.

They may not be popular now, but hopefully in time they will become popular. I believe two of those that you listed were opened because people asked for them.

I would be a shame to get rid of a forum just because the volume is low. In the case of Jacobsen, the brand is now primarily used by professionals -- so the number of new mowers out there is low compared to a consumer brand.

The Jacobsen brand is, IMO, one of the all-time greatest mower brands.

That said, I'm disappointed that there hasn't been more interest in the Jacobsen forum.

Fortunately for all of us Muhammad is here for the long run... and not likely to hastily disrupt things because someone questions the layout ....

And like he said give it time there will be plenty of time to expand any part of these forums... it's not like having more dedicated brands is making my laptop thicker or heavier...
Like you said...Jacobsen is a great line. & Allis-Chalmers = Wonderful... I still use an AC mower every 2 to 3 wks... No need to post about it... but if anyone needs information I have most of the manuals for it and most all of the various pieces I have and those I have Had.... can't have too many places for reference ... :smile:KennyV

I'm of the opinion that a good forum is, above all else, a repository of information. That's why I am glad Muhammad is a stickler about having Briana move posts to their proper place, and that we have the amount of sub-forums that we do. Allows for easier access to brand and subject-specific info.

As far as the off-topic stuff, its' worth (including my own posts) is merely to entertain/keep interested the members when they're not answering a question. Or, to give someone a place to participate who might not have a mower, but likes the atmosphere here. Also, to create said atmosphere. But, the main purpose of this forum is to inform. I do admit, I haven't done much of that lately, myself. :ashamed:

To say "let's consolidate low-volume forums" is kind of like saying to your local library, "There are hardly any books in Q-Z, so let's lump what's there into 'misc. books'. Which is right next to the dumpster. Which is outside." Silly, eh?

Sorry, but I disagree too - Ventrac is not used that often, but it would be a pain to sort it out from "other brands" instead of going directly there.

If anyone is not interested they do not need to visit those rarely used threads.

I am surprised so of the forums don't have much action but I am glad they are there when I need them, besides I never know what I'll bring home!:ashamed:
