Where is my model number?

I have an MTD Yard Man push mower. I would assume its about 20 years old. The ENGINE numbers are very clearly visible on the metal flap on the side of the engine. But the mower model number is nowhere to be found! I'm not seeing the typical MTD number sticker anywhere.

Theres some warning labels on the back flap but thats it. I may need a few nuts and bolts that hold the handle bracket to the body, and I may also need some height adjustment levers. I really need a parts diagram for this exact machine. Any ideas where else I can look?

Model number sticker probably fell off. I spray glue on stickers to secure them when they are peeling off for customers.
 
They look to be already worn off. This is why everyone should record their equipment numbers. But you can try looking under that rear door.
 
I *do* record *my* numbers. But this was a craigslist freebie. I have not lifted up that flap at all, I guess thats a good place to start!

This is every piece of equipment gets the model and serial numbers recorded in my Auto Manager software which backup daily offsite. Customers are constantly losing their labels.

Good then it maybe just a potluck repair job or a parts machine. As for nuts and bolts you probably already those are hardware available your local screw, bolt, and nut suppliers; just to figure what sizes you need.
 
What is the model type and code from the metal flap on the engine. Sometimes the SBD model number can be located by cross referencing the engine model number.

You can read the imprinted numbers with your own eyes, no need to do the paint trick like I had to years ago :D
 
Well I felt pretty dumb for not lifting up the rear flap! But in always mulch these days, I literally never use my bag. But alas, I'm not THAT dumb because there was nothing there.

The two numbers ILENGINE came up with.... those machines have I guess what I would call, kind of odd, incomplete diagrams. They look right as far as I can tell. So that should work I hope. I'm surprised this machine is THAT old. I wonder if this is the original fuel line.

One of the parts I wanted was ( 7200312 ) two of those for the rear height adjustments, but not at $11 a pop. I wonder if I can just use some hockey tape and then maybe throw a piece of heat shrink over it and heat it up to tighten it down. Or maybe just do nothing and move on to the next project :D

Either way, this should be good enough!
 
Ever thought about someone other than Amazon like the local dealer?

These 7200312 [720-0312] are less than $5 ea list here with a 26% markup. Now of if not in stock they probably wait until their next $300 parts order. Now of my two distributor only one has them in stock and that only 4 ea of them, not a big seller.

But also remember the Amazon price includes shipping even though they say free shipping. They do that just to make you think you are getting a deal.

And as for the fuel line it is just a generic 1/4 id fuel line with a couple spring clamps. Now Briggs does offer the 791766 under the engine IPL as engine is considered a separate item. Here I just some HBD line and a couple generic spring clamps which I have plenty of. Customers is always bring in mower without the clamps.
