What's in your shed?

Having been to England only once (briefly), I'm far from an expert on the topic. But it seems to me that they sure love their sheds. Which makes me love England. Evidence is provided at the following link: Readersheds.co.uk | We love sheds Home of Shed of the Year 2011 . (hope I don't get into trouble for posting an external link).

Anyway, I have always dreamed of living in a neighborhood where the guys all had top-notch sheds and brilliant projects going on inside them, and one could drop by any time to enjoy a drink, a smoke, some discussion and puttering around with engines and tools.

When I was younger I had an AMC rebuild project in my garage, and had several friends in the neighborhood with similar projects. We'd circulate among garages in the evenings, working on stuff.

Does anyone here have that situation? What's your shed like?

My shed is full of stuff, from tractors to weedeaters to engines and fourwheelers. I need to build an addition for more stuff.

Don't have a shed. Does a full basement count? Really only half a full basement. Half of it is taken up with storage of extra furniture, holiday decorations, etc. I'd actually like to have a shed out back just for my lawn and garden equipment. That would free up enough room in the basement for my other stuff. I could build a second aand possibly a third workbench and have all my woodworking tools in one side of the basement and all my general tools and reloading supplies on the other side. Right now I have one bench that pulls duty for all tasks and I'm constantly having to move this or that to put something else in its place.

Been there, done that. Times where I'd have to rearrange the garage just to cut a board! Yeah, you definitely need a shed

Well, let's see......

Old garage - a jacked up redneck golf cart, old Grand Prix, two grills and four bicycles
Tobacco barn - tractor, garden tractor, walk behind tiller, go cart, weed eater, two wheeled farm trailer and enough campfire wood to last about another year, oddly enough no tobacco
Portable garage/shop - lawn tractor, offset mower, pull behind tiller, generator, workbench and assorted shop tools

I wanna come hang out at your place

We'd have to do something about that tobacco though

Reloading has to have it's own bench  and space... :smile:KennyV

Yep, that's my goal. Funny, 12 years ago when we moved into this house I had all kinds of room in the basement. Everything had its place and was in it. Now I can't do anything without having to clear a space to work in first. My dad died a couple years after we moved here and I inherited all of his basement crap too, stuff I'll either never use or only use once, but I can't seem to get rid of it because it was his, so that explains some of it.

I am right there with you on that... stuff sure seems to accumulate... I'm thinking someone else can deal with it when I am gone... :smile:KennyV

Bring some beer and you can help me figure out how to fix the barn....the foundation is rotting and the whole barn is leaning 18".

Me too. I have two old chainsaws that belonged to my grand father. I also have a two wheeled cart that my great-grandfather built using the front end out of an early 30's model Ford.

Woah - wooden timbers in the foundation? That's a REAL barn!

I believe this type of foundation is called a mudsill, but I could be wrong. Basically a trench was dug and a log was placed in that trench, then the barn built on top of it. The barn was probably built in the late 20's to early 30's. Last week it stood up to straight line winds in the 100 mph range....but even with that, every time the wind blows hard, I expect to see it on the ground.
