What kind of tree is this?

most likely it is an ornamental dogwood variety from a nursery that will grow slowly and may get 20-30 feet tall but may take 40 years to get there so it will probably never need trimmed other than to remove damaged limbs. I have 10 foot tall wild dogwoods growing in my yard that have been there for over 20 years. any trimming for size should be done in the winter when the tree is dormant.

Tree Identification can be very tricky. When I want an accurate decisive answer, I go with this guy. He has a Phd. in trees.
