What fluid to use

I have a Scags Turf Tiger and it says I should use 10W-30 motor oil for the hydraullic fluid pumps. I've never changed that fluid before and using motor oil for hydraulic pumps makes me a little leary.
Comments from anyone who has made this change?

Hydro gear has used 20W50 motor oil for years in their hydros. So if your manual says to use 10W30 then use it.
