Oil esp. two cycle oil has begun to take on almost magical powers in hearts and minds of OPE makers and owners. Most 50 to 0ne OPE require JASO FC and or FD oils nowdays. More letters and numbers are included and more seem to be added about every time you turn around. Any Oregon dealer can order you in JASO FC oil by the gallon for 35 bucks, smaller containers for about the price of one dollar per gallon of mixed gasoline for the oil. Mystic oil can be had in FC and FD for about 35 bucks a gallon plus shipping and 5 bucks a quart plus shipping. Some of these oils are certified and some are not. FB oils are about everywhere for 3 to 5 bucks a quart. Menards has Quaker State universal air cooled for $3.50 a quart out the door. I can get the same type of oil at the grocery store here in Phillips 66 for less than five a quart. Decide what kind of oil you want and what kind you need and go shopping. Bear in mind what type of oil your warranty requires and OPE requires. If you indeed use large quanities oil distributors offer high quality two cycle oils in five, thirty, and I think I have seen a couple advertised in 55 gallon drums.

I have used Poulan synthetic in my 2 stroke trimmer. A "big" bottle from walmart is ?$3-$4? Lasts a couple seasons. Seems good. This is home owner use.

If you want to buy good oil cheap for your Business the best way is to buy it by the gallon or bulk.

Just so you know buying by the 2.6oz bottle of Echo oil (Using HD price) your paying $2.97 per bottle or the equivalent of $145.53 a gallon. You can buy a gallon of the Echo Power blend for like $40 a gallon. The Stihl I just picked up was $52 a gallon, and both will make 50 gallons of mix. I do the same thing with oil filters that cost $11.95 each, if I buy by the case I can get the same filter for like $6.00 each.
When your running a business buying smart when you can, getting discounts from a dealer all can effect you bottom line.

I buy the Wal-Mart stuff and run it in my trimmers and blowers and chain saw. I have also run it in my Outboard motors. Been using it for several years and never lost an engine because of bad oil.

I use Echo PowerBlend oil. It is probably not even close to the cheapest, but I like it.

The reason I like walking into my dealer is because I get sooooo distracted by all the equipment! Exmark....Scag......Cub Cadet.....Snapper.....Walker......Echo.

Little more money to buy, but a quart gos a log ways Amsoil 2 cycle 100 to 1 oil. I use it in all my 2 cycle engines. I even use it in my old snowmobile that originally was 20 to 1 and I have a old chainsaw what was 16 to 1.

I know what you mean Walmart oil destroyed my trimmer.

I found Kawasaki K-Tech Oil to be the Best product and best Price !! We use it in all our units and No issues now for over 2 years.

I am not trying to say you are wrong with this statement. I am sure not a fan of Walmart.because they can sell junk. This being said are you sure it was the oil? Just how did you determine it was bad oil? I have used super tech oil for years in 2&4 cycle engines an never have I had a oil problim. I still use Super Tech in my older 2 cycle mopeds because they are oil injected and they have a lot of miles on them. Could you have gotten a bad batch of oil? If so they should replace your trimmer.

100 % sure The Dealer showed where the Ash in the oil built up to much in the exhaust ports and cause the carbon to destroy the cylinder. Ash is the filler they use to keep the oil at a lower cost. This is why you see LOW ASH oils advertised on the can.

Next your talking injector oil vs mixing oil !! it is like Boat oil to lawn mower oil total difference.

Trust me when you pay Walmart $ 2.00 For Super Tech and Kawasaki Oil $ 1.89 for the same size Walmart is not only cheap but Expensive !!

Heck the Guy I get oil from (Mowtownusa.com ) Ships it to me FRee and no Sales Tax !! So it is totaly a better Deal

Sorry Walmart !!

The thing is when you use that stuff they call oil from Wally World and K-mart you're not doing yourself or your equipment any favors. You'll end up paying later.

Been using super tech for years and never no problems but I guess the next person dose? I have changed over to Amsoil on most everything I own only because my son-in-law sells it. I am thinking there is as many opinions on oil as there are brands of it.

I use Chevron in my french fry cooker Intek with no problems (3100 rpm) But in trimmers and other 7000 rpm 2 strokers go synthetic!!

A little more walmart info here. Today I took some specifics off the plastic bottles.

Supertech NMMA for outboards, in smaller print "and other 2 strokes." $2.43/pt.

Supertech "Precise Mix" Universal ( has graduated reservoir top to measure oz . Label emhasizes trimmers , but does not exclude any 2 stroke. $5/pt.

Looks like the 2nd is the good ****, but neither is synthetic.

I have found you can sort thru junk for good stuff at both Wal Mart and Harbor Freight.

I'm with you, I'll support my dealer. It benefits him as well as benefiting me. I don't go near Walmart, Kmart or Target.
