Walk behind Walk Behind String Trimmers

My wife and I have somehow entered the world of becoming Senior Citizens. We both have had spinal fusions and now need to look at doing things a little differently. Our backyard is about one quarter of an acre of slope and plaqued with surface tree roots do to water runoff. Whatever grass was there has been replaced with weeds. Up until now we have been able to maintain it by using hand held weed wackers either gas or re-chargeable. We wondered about a walk behind string trimmer but haven't been able to home in on something that would be reliable without being cost prohibitive. We have looked into DR, Husqvarna, Ariens, Swisher, and Maxim. We had been leaning towards the Maxim but are unable to find any reviews or infomation about them.
We are open to any and all suggestions.

I have a Swisher trimmer/brushcutter. check them at swisherinc.com.
It's got alot of power and the briggs engine is really reliable but the unit is a little on the heavy side albeit easy to maneuver.
Make sure you wear eye protection cause this machine is a wild one.

swisher has only 2 models. See the website and go according to what your needs and budget dictate.
I find that I use mine very rarely, its alot more power than one needs for regular trimming along sidewalks and edging.
Have you ever tried using a harness or shoulder strap with the regular hhandheld trimmer?
Stihl FS55R is lightweight and has decent power for homeowner use.

Rather than control via trimming why not just grow crown vetch in this area....or an ivy....then you may not have to do anything....maybe....
Work with your local friendly government agricultural agent.....I hope what I write is true..
String trimmers (the el-cheapo ones:ashamed, I just threw two of the away ...curb alert - Craig list was not even necessary..
Maybe a Stihl f45 is my need...
I think we make a mistake in trying to control nature rather than working with it....
