Viking MB 253.1 T - clutch cable

Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help.

I have a 2015 Viking MB253.1 T (STIHL RM253.1 T equivalent) and have replaced the genuine self-propel cable (6350 700 7528).

I'm stuck fitting the gearbox end. The cable passes through the black guide on the gearbox, but the Z-bend won't fit through the guide. I've checked the STIHL parts diagrams, but they don't show how the cable actually attaches.

Does anyone know:
Is the black guide removable?
Does the gearbox need to be opened?
Or is there a particular fitting method?
I've attached a photo of the gearbox.

Can't tell from the image as it gets blurry when enlarged but plastic looking should have a split in it. And to open it up it has to first be removed from the transmission. At least that is a working theory here.

Thanks for the reply. Here is another picture with the old cable in place. I've also googled the gearbox and found it for sale without the black sleeve.

All sorted, that old black thread was remnants from the old cable. Managed to remove it now.
