Up in smoke

My john deere riding mower ran great for my first cut. When i shut it off and re-started it white smoke started coming out of it and it wouldnt stay running. The exaust pipe felt super hot after only running for seconds. What may be my problem ? ?

Super hot huh ......... You might have to take the air shroud off and check for a mouse/varmit nest...... A nest will clog your cooling fins and those are supposed to be free of any debris all around that area....
