Engine turns over no spark

Hello I have a 1996 Simplicity Landlord with a 50 inch deck. Recently (last 30 days) I replaced the engine in it with a vanguard 18 horse direct replacement. It ran great but after about a week it would turn over and not start. This was an intermittent problem until 2 days ago when it stopped starting. Engine still turns over but no spark. Removed the ground wire to the coils and it started. Please help. Thank you

You are going to have to play detective and find where the kill wire is shorting to ground. Once you find that, your problem should be solved. You should have a wiring diagram in you owners manual to help you along.
