Trying to find ignition coil for my B&S on my 30 y.o.Yard-Man

My perfectly good Yard-Man 14810 won't start. I tracked down the problem as a faulty ignition coil, there's no continuity. I need a replacement but my small engin repair shop needs a parts number to order from Briggs & Stratton. There's no indication on the engin. The service manual says it's a "16 H.P. Briggs& Stratton twin cylinder engin with dual circuit alternator"

Tried reaching B&S on their web site : no answer. Left a message, after 30 minutes wait, on the B&S telephone answering machine : no reply.



Can someone recommend a source for a compatible ignition coil or some other solution I haven't tried?

Look on the shroud, above the spark plug or on the side for the engine numbers. With an engine that old, Briggs stamped the numbers on the shroud, so you should still be able to find them. Second, if you have the numbers for the tractor, we might be able to back check which engine was used on that model, if no one has done an engine swap. Finally, without numbers take a few pict of the engine and unit, which may help us identify it.

I may have a good coil. Is it an opposing cylinder twin or V twin?

Nothing on the shroud/covers. The cylinders seem opposed with a slight offset.
