Trying a Snapper before buying a JD.

I have a one acre of grass that is flat with one small pitch. I currently have a craftsman push mower that is falling apart and need some sort of tractor or rear rider. My acre is mostly bumpy and can get dusty with dirt. As I search for a new mower I got to borrow a new Snapper rear eng rider with B&s 11.5 hp , good turn radius but best of all was a HI VAC suction. It sucked up leAves and grass like a Vacuum cleaner. It also cut grass well with 28" deck

I was wondering if JD D tractors suck like a vacuum like a Snapper? Would be great for fall leaves. And do they Have a turn radius like JD? Thanks for feedback for cutting my grass. I don't need any hauling.

You are not going to find any mower that can match the vacuum of s snapper.

JD is not even in the same ballpark as snapper.

I've had both and the snapper I swear will bag golf balls. For fall clean up you'll be emptying the bag about every hundred feet.

The snapper- I hated to operate it so bad i sold it and the bagging system for 5 bucks just to get it outta my sight.

JD is has good as any other cheap mower.
It will do fine with leaves. As will most mowers.
But not as good as a craftsman RER
And not even close to a snapper.
As far as what mower is the best value for the money as far as rear engine riders go.my order is

#1 snapper
#2 craftsman

The snapper Hi-Vac definitely has some good 'sucking' capabilities as a RER. I was also comparing the Snapper Hi-Vac to a JD 'D' Series Tractor. I know its like apples to oranges, but how is the vacuum suction on a JD 'D' Tractor Series ? I am looking for decent equipment to sucking up grass and leaves. some occasional light hauling of small branches too

A D-series JD will not do any of the following well with the combination mulch, discharge and so called bagging blades that come on them from the factory.

Think about it for just a second. Would a circular saw combination blade rip, cross cut and do plywood. Sure, but it won't preform any one of those tasks well.

Find a high lift bagging blade, remove the stupid mulching baffles and maybe, just maybe.

I might not be the best person to talk you into a JD

If your looking for a D series JD tractor.
I will push you towards a cub cadet or a husqvarna.

I have owned and own a lot of mowers.
And I can not recommend a JD to anyone.
Now if you are looking at spending over three grand then you get into the better made JDs

Under three grand JD mowers are just cheap made junk.

you can read my mind.. I am trying to talk myself either a HI-VAC rider or a lawn tractor. I just don't know if the $2k lawn tractors (JD, Hus, CC) have decent suction for leaves? It doesn't have to be as a good as HI-VAC, but I need good pickup of leaves and grass. what do you think? how is the suction of lawn tractors?
