transmission belt

Hi
I have a problem
my transmission belt from the motor to the trans mission broke
from my craftsman riding mower model model number is 917271061
when I start the mower it runs poorly and when I put it in gear it stalls

thank you
 
Why did it break? Is something locked up, or was it old and badly cracked?
Transmission belts don't normally "break"...
 
Double check the belt routing. There are a couple things under there that keep the belt from falling off the pulleys when the clutch/brake is pushed in and it's easy to get the belt on the wrong side of one of those. Don't ask how I know, duhhh.

stalling problems

Hi I have a crafts man riding lawn mower and the belt broke and I changed it now when I start the mower it stutters and when I put it in gear it stalls out my model number is 917271061 please can some one help me thank you

I would like to thank you all for your help
I found a wire that came of a switch
inside the mower around the gas tank
put it back and the mower runs great again
