Toro Not Cutting Well

My Toro LX 426 is not cutting well. It's 3 years old and I'm wondering if I should change blades (as I think it's run over a few stumps and perhaps the blades have been bent and/or mangled. Can someone refer me to an easy guide to changing the blade. Thanks.

You should try pulling the blade off and sharpening first then go from there

The book that comes with it should tell you how to remove the deck and the blades etc. My dealer raises them up and works on them with the deck still on. He uses a outfit along the lines of a Mojack. Takes him about 15 minutes to change out the blades and sharpen . The ones I have watched him work over were very much like yours.

You should sharpen the blades about every 20 hours or so to keep the grass healthy and get a good cut. If you have hit several items then it's possible you have bent jackshafts in the spindles, which will cause bearings to go out and could also cause grass to be uneven when cutting. You should inspect these parts at least once a year and anytime you hit something hard.

You'd be surprised at what good sharpening them yourself will do. You can buy blade sharpeners from the maintenance shop. I'd definitely give that a go before replacing them altogether.
