Toro 21090 Lawnmower, Abnormal Noise After Hitting a Stone

Hello,

1- I have a Toro 21090 electric lawnmower, 21090 cutting width, which I've had since 2007.

I just hit a stepping stone. Since then, the mower has been making an unusual noise, so I haven't tried using it again.

The blade doesn't seem damaged. It turns by hand, but with a little force, it scrapes.

2- Do you have any idea what might have happened?

3- Should I remove the blade? (The retaining nut is plastic, and I couldn't get it loose using a 24mm open-end wrench)

4- To access the motor, I tried to lift the black cover, but I only managed to unclip it at the front.

5- Under the casing are four 10 mm diameter nuts. But when I try to loosen them with a socket wrench, the nut and bolt turn at the same time.

Do you know how to remove the black cover?

6- Do you think the lawnmower is repairable?

Thank you very much in advance for any help.

Sincerely,

Patrick

you say it scrapes. On what? Does it spin and the motor not turn? If so then the key or blade adapter has sheared. Not very powerful if hitting a stone like that doesn't ding the blade. Might be time to upgrade to a new battery model instead of cord model.
