Today was DDay for the twice a year lawn jockeys. I even saw one True Green truck. All the bank properties, most of the owners out of town and for sale properties, a couple left grow up business properties, and even a few nice ones that needed more work than the usual mowing. The large outfit that works the schools around here every fall had a couple guys going around to the nice homes to line up leaf work later in the season before they head home for the season. Several others working the fall spraying routine. They have slowed down a fair amount from spring. I saw no wrecked lawnmowers along the roads and none at the salvage yard as well. Always a sure sign winter is coming before long is these guys. The tree trimmers always start showing up about Halloween and again about Thanksgiving. The contractors that bury fibre optics are here as well with all their trailers, trucks, crews, water tanks, straw, grass seed, tractors, backhoes, and hand tools. Before they get done in town all will be in chaos and lawsuits will flood the courthouse. Fall. The local bars have been waiting for it. The police and fire department has been getting ready for it. The local health departments have been dreading it. The open two season a year motels have been saved more than once by it. The time when everything starts falling down around us. Its here anyways.
