tech tip - pressure test inline fuel shutoff valves

I'm not try to be a wise a$$, but...

If you are using vacuum, it would be 7Hg or -7 below atmosphere.

PSI is measured above "0" atmosphere.
 
SPEAKING of vacuum testing, it is a great idea to test at pressure and a vacuum to double confirm leak or no leak. You read it here first folks LOL.
 
Where is James' video? I see he has a ton on youtube, but didn't see one on pressure testing.
He was working on a generator and noticed the fuel didn't shut off when turned to off. I've watched so many of his I forgot which one. He stumbles into it and finds a bunch of his are leakers.

That engine he was working on had a tight space for a shut off. Needed a 90 degree outlet. He noticed it didn't hold fuel.

The environment where the new fuel valves are kept can also be a factor.

I found quite a few problems with distorted and cracking soft carburetor parts, O-rings and fuel valves before I installed a mini-split unit in my shop to better control the temperatures.

In the summer, I found my wall temperatures on my steel shop walls were reaching 140+ degrees, so I also applied thermal sheathing to the inside walls. Fortunately, I had installed when I built the shop.

My spare parts getting damaged is no longer an issue.

Just something else to consider....

Wow that is one mega radiator. Hope the outside is painted white. You need more of an overhang eve deal to stop the direct sun. Closed cell foam sounds about right.
