Strange refueling issue

I have a 2016 Husqvarna YTH24V48 that I bought new.

Last season I noticed that if I ran out of fuel the Tractor would be hard to restart after I refueled it up.

This past week I refueled with the tractor running and as the new gas hit the carb it stalled and again was hard to restart.

The gas is fresh with stabilizer added.

Dumb question probably but could it be the gas being added is much cooler than the gas in the carburetor? If so why would it be hard to start when I would accidently run it dry?

Any idea what would cause it to stall while it's running and then stalls after refueling?
 
detritus collects in the bottom of the fuel tank that can form into a plug while the engine is running
The outlet is a tiny bit higher than the bottom of the tank so you can be getting water in the carb

Exactly as Bertsmobile1 said. Trash in the tank, deteriorating fuel lines and plugged filters if yours has one.

It all starts at your fuel can. The old type with the open top. Those allow humidity, rain, bugs, dirt, grass, grit and mud dobbers and so on inside. When you fill the mower tank, the fuel can trash passes into in. Best get a new style fuel can that is sealed.
 
Use a filter funnel - holds back the trash & any free water, from entering your tank, in the first instance.

Use a "plastic" fuel can with a good top seal - no rust, ever!.
