The Scagg mower I have recently quit working in reverse, very slow and jerky movements when applying reverse and works good in forward. the drive belt seems to be in good condition. Is this a sign that the transmission or the hydraulic pump is wearing out? Thoughts are appreciated. This is a sunstrand pump but the scag numbers do not reference?
 
When were the drive belts last changed? How a belt looks make very little sense, as I’ve seen worn belts look good, but don’t catch properly. Over three years I would be replacing the belt.
 
Thanks for the diagram. I called sundstrand and they will rebuild for 800-1100 usd. About 3200 usd for one from scag. Sundstrund is the original oem for this tranny. The problem is play on the input actuator worn. Thanks for everyone’s help.
