Stator harness location?

Want to check alternator location for amps and voltage outputs.
Engine 42E707. 19.5 boxer
B&S
2631 -E1
9708055A

Where do I physically find the harness with diode?

The hood is gone, so don't suggest checking lights for "dimming".

Look around that old opposed engine for a connector that looks like this>

Red wire is the pulsing DC output and black wire is the AC output.

Thanks so much. BTW, CAN I check amps across ammeter connections?

Found it! Melted at the connection and about 3 inches back up the wires which I'm guessing were black and red...now a black mass
