S SeniorCitizen Lawn Addict Aug 26, 2014 #2 Temporarily disconnect the magneto grounding kill wire on the engine. If the engine now runs when the PTO ( blades ) are engaged your tractor probably has a safety shut down switch that is faulty. Don't get off the tractor with the blades running.
