I have a cub Cadet lawn tractor 1000 series w/20hp Kohler. Today while mowing I hit a stump and the engine stalled. I freed the mower from the stump and now it won't start. Battery is good Started tries to engage but only turns the fly wheel slightly. I can turn the motor manually. Not sure what to do??????

:welcome:

First, full model number of the cub and the engine will be of great assistance.

Secondly. run some jumpers from the battery directly to the starter motor.
If it spins fine then leave the - jumper on & try again.
Those types of sudden stops can cause loose ground connections..
If that checks out pull the rocker covers and plugs,
Rotate the engine by hand with a pencil down the pug hole and confirm the valves are in sync with the piston movement.

Most current design engines have a sacrificial shear key holding the flywheel to the crankshaft. In the event of sudden blade/crankshaft stoppage, the key shears and the crankshaft is less likely to be bent. Check for a sheared key.
