I guess if one is bad that makes them all bad?
I didn't say it was bad. I just flat out don't like it. There are better options out there and I made a mistake in buying it.I guess if one is bad that makes them all bad?
Yeah, Echo has been a reliable and comfortable brand for me. I have an Echo commercial edger, an Echo commercial power pruner, and an old Poulan Pro (Husqvarna) chain saw. All have been really reliable and the ergonomics are good. The old Echo SRM225 was also like that. However, after 10 years, it was just worn out. It really wasn't worth rebuilding. Out of convenience, I bought the Stihl. Stihl has saturated the market.I guess everyone develops a fondness for particular brands. I once like the early Ryobi straight shaft trimmer combo along with the Green Machine 3000. They were powerful and dependable machines for their time.
Stihl is very popular around my area, and I only see a few for service once in a while. The biggest problem with many of them are poor ignition coils on the weed trimmers.
You are probably right on that. On the FS56, They did away with the grease port on the trimmer head.I agree Stihl has saturated the market, but I noticed their actual training of techs has been pushed to quick online classes with no instructor led training. The newer Stihl products are not as robust as their earlier models. Same clothing, but weaker internals.
Looks like maybe the factory dropped it in! Pull it on out while you have hook on it lol. Of all the years I never seen that. Your filter will be on the end of the fuel line that is in the tank. BTW save it, extra parts come in handy. Hope this helps.Hi guys, today when filling up the tank on my trimmer I noticed this small round sponge inside..does it belong somewhere or did I accidentally drop this in at some point. Seems to run fine.
I checked my Sthil blowers, trimmers and chainsaw's and nothing looking like that, it might be part of a filter on a pick-up line in the tank.Hi guys, today when filling up the tank on my trimmer I noticed this small round sponge inside..does it belong somewhere or did I accidentally drop this in at some point. Hi Rick, as StarTech says, I think that is the filter out of the Fuel Tank Vent Valve. It's not super-critical to replace it, but if you get dirt in the vent valve it could stop it closing properly which could lead to some fuel leakage. If you've got a small inspection mirror, like a dentist uses, you could have a look in the tank; the vent valve is located in the upper surface and it should be fairly obvious if the sponge filter is missing. If it has come out, I don't think it's going to stay in place if you just push it back in there. Depending on the exact model of FS56 that you've got, it's quite a straightforward part to change but you may need to remove the carb so make sure you've got spare gaskets handy. To locate the vent valve, take off the recoil starter shroud and then unscrew the air filter housing. There is a pipe connected to the back of the housing and the other end is fitted to the tank vent. If you can get to it, just pry out the old tank vent with a screwdriver. Connect the pipe to the valve before you click it back into place and make sure that you've properly seated everything when re-installing, otherwise it's going to leak. Hope this helps.Hi guys, today when filling up the tank on my trimmer I noticed this small round sponge inside..does it belong somewhere or did I accidentally drop this in at some point.
