Sorry, but this is how I feel...

I'm not having a go at anybody... Well inadvertently I am I guess...

I was watching "Who Is Online" a few minutes ago, and saw there were 8 users online, and around 180 guests reading topics, but not joining!

I know they don't have to join, but if I go to a forum and get some good information from it, I always join...

That's my mini rant over.

Sorry if I've offended anybody, but I just wanted to get that off my chest!

This has been mentioned before by a one JDgreen.......

I came back by saying they're window shopping - maybe watching us like a sporting event...

Maybe to see who I jump on next....

Or maybe to see what nasty, sarcastic ranting the old poop here is going to spout next....

We can be quite a lively bunch - and I can see people enjoying the entertainment.....

But, to Jamie's point, if it's fun to watch, it's even more fun to participate......

Yep, and I'm the kind of person who likes to pitch in on a conversation, so if I was viewing this forum as a guest, I'd be really annoyed that I couldn't reply to anything!

And I would be annoyed that you and the rest of the lurkers were NOT participating so I actually had a limited number of targets to rant at....

If I joined every internet forum I ever got useful information from once, I'd be a member at 50 different sites that I've never gone back to.

Haven't heard from you much lately because you said you were busy outside so it must be raining where you are at.:confused2: Hope your eyes are getting better.

"If you build it, they will come!"
They will join when they see something that triggers them to reply.

Okay, so I wonder how many of those "guests" are just members who don't want to sign in if they're just "checkin' the mail"?

I would suspect not many are members. They can check the mail without coming to the site. LMF shares all these start up threads on facebook and twitter. That, I would suspect is where the majority of the guest are coming from. That is how I found the LMF.

That may very well be it. I wondered - maybe Muhammad can shed some light on this. Seemed so odd to just have a gallery of hundreds of people just 'watching'......but if it's buried on someones wall on FB, they really aren't 'watching' anything at all (but, they're still counted). I notice not all threads and replies come up on FB - it's really hit and miss to get something updated from LMF on FB.

Sometimes I'll google for some information on something or other, and be brought to an online forum where the topic has been discussed. I usually have zero interest in actually joining a forum I find in that way, it's strictly a one-time-only visit, and it happens to me a fairly often.

Only a new thread, by the original creator of it will be posted on facebook and twitter, and just one time. It goes to their new feeds, not their wall. They have to share it for it to be on their wall. Those who view it on facebook & twitter have to click on it which then brings them to LMF as a guest. Ads are being run on LMF, members can not see them unless they are logged out. The goal is, the more guest they attract, the more potential clicks or hits the ads being run will get. That is where the profits are that keeps this forum up and running for the members to enjoy BS. Those that become members, those that post new threads like you and I are the driving force to attract new guest with new topics, questions, etc...

It's a win-win for the site and the members either way.
When someone clicks on a thread from facebook and twitter, then they can see all the replies that the original thread had created. Chances are, they will also check out other post while visiting once they are on LMF. Often bringing more conversation to the members and more visitors to the ads. It's all about the #'s:thumbsup:

You must also like LMF on facebook or follow LMF on Twitter to have the new threads come to you.
