Snapper Service Manual

Just joined. I have bought a used RER with an B&S Intek 17.5 hp engine with back side of engine blew out. I bought it for the chassis as the paint is still shiny, another words in great shape. I'm asking for help to find a free online service manual so I can swap engine and rewire as needed. I've already purchased a used engine and swapping over parts because of it being a newer model engine. Any advice or help much appreciated, and thanks.

Hello Murph186,

You gave us the blown engine information. What about the use replacement engine numbers? What brand is the used replacement engine?

Also, there is a product label on the rider mower chassis that we need the information off of.

Snapper does not make the engines for their riders.

There is no printed manual for doing these kinds of engine swaps. It takes experience and patient people willing to help you. We have such people.

We may need you to post so pictures as this project moves forward.

Ok, I'll post some pics along the way.
The info on my post is the used engine and I've installed it today. I've cleaned the carb with carb cleaner and air, adjusted the valves ( .005 intake .006 exhaust ) andIt is off a walk/stand behind mower that had a sled or wheel, and you rode it. This guy has a Lawn Service, and he decided to upgrade to the Kawasaki engine, so he listed this one. I bought it before learning that they're not a sweet engine like the Kawi is.
Retired from wrenching in 09, just work on my own bikes and automobiles now days, and still love doing it. Have three Snapper RER' now and this one is gonna be nice to have I think.
I planned on swapping the orginial carb over to this used engine, but the air mixture screw broke off in the carb body when I began backing it out. So cleaned the used engine carb up and I've got to run it. Don't want to, but no choice for now. It is non-adjustable for air mixture, and has the vacumn fuel pump set up, which I've deleted and going to go gravity feed like the original engine had.

The last picture is the original engine cover.
