I have a Snapper MNA153002 which is stuck in self propelled mode. This is probably the cheaper model sold by Walmart, but I bought it used for pretty cheap and it worked fine after a carb clean. I am not sure if walmart partially assembles these the same way the do bikes, but it had the wrong control bar for the self propel. They basically used another bail control bar. I found the correct self propelled bar and replaced it and the mower was working fine but this year the self propelled z end that attaches to the bar snapped off. I jimmy rigged some brackets to keep the self propelled running and purchased a new z end. It seemed a little tight with the new z end and now it seems stuck in self propelled mode even with the cable disconnected. It looks like the transmission is a Daye 84005370. I definatly got moneys worth out of this mower but I am going to take a stab at fixing the transmission. I want to dissasmble it to see if something is stuck in there. Any idea on what oil I should put back in if I reassemblie it? I have some gm automatic transmission fluid laying around that I can use but maybe some has a better suggestion?

There is not much else to check. With the cable fully disconnected from the transmission, it is still fully engaged. When you start up the mower the wheels just start spinning. The lever that the cable connects to on the transmission moves very freely. Like it is not moving anything any more.
