Well no, not really. Here is my semi-retired Snapper SR1433.

The deck wore out from hitting too many tree roots (wore the bottom lip off).

So I pulled the heavier built deck off an old 79 model and attached it to my 2000 model.

The "shifter" that engages the blade conflicted with the box section where the old style used a tube. So I had to bend it a bit and attached an old 4 speed shifter knob. I think I had to use the old style belt. New style was an inch or two too long.

It mows great but I have to kick it with my foot to disenage the blade.

Other mods:

Homemade muffler adapter (welded 3/4" elbow with B&S muffler screwed into fitting)
No ignition switch (starter button)
Cigarrette lighter

Original B&S engine through a rod and was replaced with a Kohler of the same HP.
