Snapper 2691021-00 - SPX2246, 46" 22 HP SPX Lawn Tractor 150 Series

Recently, when I lift up the blade engage button the blades have sometimes not engaged, or enganged for few seconds then stop. After a few attempts, everything would be fine and I'd mow OK. Today it was worse, so just guessing, I used my hand to hold up the engage button and then the blades were fine (mowed normally). I did this for awhile and a few times let go and the blades stopped. So, I held it more and (steering one handed) then eventually after maybe 15 minutes, I let go of the button and it "took" and mowed normally.

I'm pseudo-handy, so hoping someone can point me to most likely culprit what to look at so blades engage every time and stage engaged? Thanks!

Not familiar with your machine.

Test the switch several times. "Guessing" it could be a normally open or closed contact???

Any mice chewing wires at your place?

Inspect the harness for the blade switch.

Your description sounds like a badly worn Deck PTO switch.
