Well yesterday I had the opportunity to try out two Snapper Big Six's that someone I know had. Not thinking about buying one, just wanted to try it out again (I used one last year). The first thing I noticed is that it is definitely harder to start than my Honda mowers. It takes multiple pulls, and you have to prime the engine. They are pretty loud, probably to do with the disk drive, which is interesting, and it sounds a lot different.

So the first mower I used was set to the mulching mode. It mulched fairly well. Few more strands of grass left than I would have liked to see. But I was overall pretty satisfied with the mulching capabilities.

The second mower I used was set to discharge. I personally don't like side-discharge mowers. I was cutting off more than I probably should have. The cut was great, but it was clumping a lot, and the discharged grass didn't spread evenly at all.

This is probably because the mowers are fairly old, but they stunk like burning oil. That and the noise gave me a headache.

It's blades:

If this was a new mower (and in mulch mode) I would consider buying it. It did a pretty good job.

Not sure what else to mention so if you have any questions about certain areas just ask.

I used mine once so far (7hp briggs intek) since I got it running and was very happy with it. then again, I'm comparing it to my lawn boy silver series and I've never been happy with the cut from that. My lawn boy broke, and I had bought this mower, not running, about 2 months ago and decided this was my operatunitey to talk my wife into letting me spend the money to get the snapper running, so, till all was said and done, it was a month between mow's, so I had probably 8in tall grass in some spots. And the morning was the only time I had to get it done, and our nights have been pretty cool here lately, so the grass was wet too. It still did an awesome job, didn't bog down, only threw the occasional clump (I was side discharging since it was so tall) which I expected since the grass was so out of hand. I was very happy, and the suction of that deck is unbelievable, anything with in 6in. of the edge of the deck gets sucked up in it. I did not get to try mulching with it yet, but I only have the standard lift blade on it, so I'm not expecting much. I'm excited to try it out this weekend and see how it does with the grass at its normal height. My only concern is that the my rubber drive disk jumps and vibrates like crazy in any gears but 1st and second. Doesn't affect operation, but makes a lot of noise. I gotta figure out if its the spring not putting enough tension on it, or if the rubber disk is just worn down to far. Your review was helpfull though, as I've been going back and forth trying to figure out if I want to go with a ninja blade or gator blade for mulching, as I've heard mixed reviews on the ninja blade. Its nice to see someone that is a fan of one brand of mower (honda in your case) try something different:thumbsup: Thanks:thumbsup:
