The closest thing you will get to a maintenance free yard is to plant it out with low shrubs 3' to 9'
Then cover the ground with agricultural cloth followed by 6" of coarse mulch.
Then it becomes a once week job to either spay the mulch with glyco or drag a rake across it to knock off the weeds that germinate in the mulch.
Once every 5 years or so add another 2" of coarse mulch.

Yes, your lawn is replaced by artificial turf. But you need to hire an expert or a company that has experience to install artificial turf. The Perfect Lawn is providing clean, safe, and low maintenance landscapes in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Cities throughout North Texas.

Or you can just install green dyed concrete. It is low maintenance but I prefer real grass my myself. Of course it will take a lot of maintenance.

Since this is a lawn mower forum, what is wrong with real grass?

If you are fat and lazy, wrong answer.

Health conditions, sell the place and move into an assisted living joint.

This is an old thread that someone posted in. That said, artificial turf can be 200F in the sun in summer. Lots of people and pets have been burned by it. Ever walk across dark concrete on a hot day?
