I need to know what the name of the sensor on a 2005 dixie chopper lt 2400 silver eagle series. the sensor has a two wire plug in that is located on the carb float bowl and what purpose it serves. When it is plugged in it makes the motor run rough which indicates that it is bad and can I of possible plugged it in backwards if possible

What you are talking about is not a sensor, but the fuel shut off solenoid. It's purpose is to stop the fuel flow into the air horn as soon as the engine is shut off to prevent backfiring. When you turn the key to the run position you should hear or if you can put you hand on it, feel the plunger opening and turn the key off it should close. If you don't feel it is working properly you can remove it and give it a good cleaning. Basically there are three parts to it, body, plunger and spring.
