Seat Safety Switch 917.254270

Hi,

I just picked up a Craftsman riding mower; 11hp, 36” deck, 917.254270. When I went to get the old battery out I noticed there is no seat safety switch. There’s no bracket and there’s no wiring anywhere near the seat.

I don’t have a manual or wiring diagram for it so I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be there. I have a later model mower that has a seat with a switch so I could install that seat. I’m just curious if anyone has one of these and, if so, what type of switch it has.

I’m not having great luck finding a wiring diagram or manual online.

Seat switches were not on very many models when this machine was made around 1977 or 1978 according to what little I have found. Larger Commercial units had them, but not residential units like this.

If you are really serious about wiring one in look up later diagrams for Poulan riders which were built on the same chassis.
