UPDATE: Winner, winner, chicken dinner !!!!

The winner is The Cusser; it turned out that the rope hard to pull was caused by the safety cable breaking somewhere in its sheath. No one had suggested that.

I had a spare already, watched a video and installed that. So the mower works now. So I learned a lot about the safety engagement/shut-off system. The second cable is pretty worthless, for the grass catcher bag flap. So I just ordered a plain 52" spare cable for the engine, will ignore the other. Oregon-60-107

Small world. I actually had my bail cable rust out and separate internally on both my mowers. I wonder if the bail cable that engages your self propelled belt isn't on it way out next.
