sears 247.375900 lawnmower linkage probblem

hi guys , i have a problem, my sears 247.375900 lawnmower carb , was gunked up
so removed it to clean it . well i removed the speed rod and cannot get it back into
hole rod came out of any ideas ??

Disconnect spark plug wire for Safety & remove carburetor either partway or all the way while installing rod, let us know how it goes, thanks, Mark
