Runs ok after shooting with starting fluid. Won't start again after that without more starting fluid

Briggs and Stratton engine. replaced carb, oil, checked plug and gap. Checked mechanical interlock and magneto. Not sure if there is a compression problem or not. Any ideas?

I also say to check the choke, may be stuck in the open position. Anyway, at least you have a workaround.
