It's my opinion that rubber gloves aren't a good alternative to proper mechanic's gloves.
Not to mention using a worthless spark tester. Adjustable air gap testers are more expensive, but if one wants something that works, bite the bullet and buy it. Cheap tools only make your job harder.

Best way to get the valve cover off is to take a 2x4 put it up to the side of the valve cover and hit it with a BFH. May have to hit both sides of the valve cover but it comes off and you don't bend the valve cover like when you try to pry it off

5n1 tool or putty knife is a whole lot easier. Will not distort the cover compared to a brute force attack.

Apparently you haven't ever tried the board and hammer method. I use it on Briggs rocker covers all the time here without damage. I even have removed a few Honda covers. That's what the board is for, it spread the force across the whole side of the cover.

No I haven't. Why? Because I OWN my equipment and want them to last. I'm not a shop where time is money cutting corners. Always three ways to skin a cat I get it.

We want to break the seal not the part.
