To remove excessive sealant on valve covers: Use a heat gun to soften the sealant, then a couple of small screwdrivers to gently pry valve cover. Then use a wire wheel on a battery drill to remove sealant from valve cover and cylinder head. Scotch bright and carburetor cleaner for the last bits of sealant.RTV on valve covers is not as bad as anyone lets on, just got to know how to use a BFH and backbone razor blades. Just had to clean a mess where the RTV wasn't install correctly nor was the impulse hose nor was it the correct hose. It was leaking all over the place on that 44S. BTW PermaTex Ultra Black or Grey doesn't harden just becomes a strong rubbery setup.
Good product but hard setting. Recommended for hose connections, paper and cardboard gaskets per the web site.Indian head gasket shellac for the win.![]()
