Sears dyt 4000 18.5 hp. Blowing oil from round thing with fuel lines hooked to it. Is this some kind of crankcase breather? Is this the problem or a symptom of a bigger problem? Thanks greg. P.s. is there a place to order sears parts other than sears?

The "thing" with the fuel lines going to it would be a crankcase operated fuel pump. Your diaphragm is bad and allowing oil to leak out the clean air side. There should be some numbers stamped on the valve covet or engine block. Or a sticker on the shroud. Get those and the engine make, ie: briggs, Kohler, kawasaki, etc and do an online search for parts. Or try napa, they tend to be able to get a lot of different things. A good parts guy at a john deere dealer could also cross that kind of stuff over.

Most Craftsman mowers today are built by MTD. Just take your the part numbers you get from the sSears website to a good repair shop and they should be able to get you parts.

actually sears are built by AYP. And to answer the prob. either your motor filled up w/ gas because of a bad carb or you have a bad head gasket causing crankcase pressure

As Wisco said the problem is most likely caused by a blown head gasket or excess fuel in the crankcase. The excess fuel comes from a bad needle and seat in the carb, which does not shut off the fuel when the engine is shut off. Both of these conditions will produce excess prossure in the crankcase forcing oil out of the breather tube. Since you have a fuel pump which does not operate when the engine is shut off, I would start looking at a bad head gasket.
