How do you all feel about restocking fees that many stores, including online retailers have, for electronic returns? Personally, I think they are bogus for the most part.

I don't like them, but it a cost of doing business. When an item is purchased, the store re-orders it. When the customer returns it, now the store has more of them then they usually stock. Plus a store employee has to check over the item to make sure it is resellable, which takes time.

GRADE A, GOLD PLATED RIPOFFS. That is why I only deal with stores that do not charge them. They make more money on restock fees and service contracts than they do selling the items. SCROOM.

I understand about the costs of returns. I used to work for a retailer in customer service, but it's not that high of a cost compared to what they charge. I've just never liked them.

I have never considered them as a factor... If I am needing something, that's what I buy.
I generally 'WAY' over shop and research anything I get.... So I am also very sure it's what I need.. so why would a restocking fee ever come into play??

It's like a CC interest rate... I have never been interested as to what they may be... I always pay the full amount due, and appreciate the convenience of delaying payment for 30 days or so.... I could never justify paying more for something than what I had agreed to pay to the person selling it... :smile:KennyV

Kenny, you took the words right out of my mouth...that is EXACTLY how I spend and shop, never buy anything without careful research and never pay a cent in interest on my credit cards.

The sad thing is, I married someone who is a compulsive spender and shopper...the exact opposite of myself. Guess my wife and I cancel each other out...:laughing:

Generally I make sure of what I am buying so that is not a problem - I did have one case recently where I wanted wheel spacers for the 8" wheels on the Ventrac and was assured that the ones I ordered would fit both in e-mail and on the phone (double checked) --- WELL - when they arrived the outside diameter of the spacers was too large to fit inside the 8" wheel... I called to find out about return and they wanted 30% plus me to pay return shipping --- NO WAY -- I kept them and gave them to the dealer where I do my tractor business -- they will remember that the next time I need anything.

The retailer will not have those spacers to resell at full price to someone else !

Are you saying you purchased wheel spacers from us or from another retailer? We don't make wheel spacers, we make wheel extensions for the 8" wheels, but they aren't compatible with the Dual Wheel setup. It must have been another retailer because our restocking fee is 10%. Just checking, because we try to take care of our customers as best we can!

No - I didn't get them from Ventrac - I wanted just 1" spacing for the rear chains and your extensions are 3" -- I ended up using 1/2" Lexan plastic and making them myself. The ones I made work just fine.

I might have understood the restock fee if I was the one who made the mistake, but It was not my mistake !

Not what you want to happen, but glad to hear we didn't treat you like that!
