Replacing deck belt on Toro MX5060

The belt on my Toro MX5060 broke, so it looks like I have my first belt repair job.
It looks straightforward, but I have one question: does it matter what position the blades are in when I replace the belt?
The manual does not mention anything about blade position, but I was wondering if it makes any difference whether the are all parallel with each other or just in arbitrary positions.

The mower has a fabricated 50" wide deck with three blades.

I also have a new MX5060, though I have never had to change the belt. I don't believe that you have to "line up" the blades in any special order. The manual doesn't mention anything about it. Looking at the deck, I don't see anything that would keep the blades timed or synchronized. The easy way to tell is to turn adjacent blades together to see if they touch. If not, just put on the belt and start mowing...:smile:

By the way, how do you like the mower? I've only used mine for 12 hours and I absolutely love it!

Thanks for the feedback Bruce - kinda what I figured. I'm loving my Toro as well. This is my second season mowing with it, and I've got about 30 hours on the machine. I'm glad I got the MX over the SS - the fabricated deck is solid. The quality of cut is excellent too.

From what little detail I could glean from your post, I don't think you have a "timed" deck, which would require a toothed/cogged belt.

Mine broke the second time I used it! Jumped off the idler pulley and jammed ; then burnt before I knew what happened! I takes longer to get the six screws that hold down the guards than it does to replace the belt! You can take a three prong garden rake to pull the tension spring away from the hook!! Cheaper than going to a Toro dealer to purchase the tool and easier and safer than trying to pull it with your hand!! Be Safe!!!!
